about

This song was from the first album Sink Or Swim. John Mosco and original lead gtr player and co-founder of the band Pete Dobrzanski got together in the summer of 2018. This was the first time they hung out in over 10 years. After a few beers Pete grabbed his acoustic guitar and the two jammed for a bit and then decided to give What You Never Had a shot. Neither one had performed the song since Pete left the band in 2003. The result was an almost flawless performance that was stripped down, raw and heartfelt.

lyrics

If you could have tomorrow
Would you waste another day?
If you could drown your sorrows
Would you throw your life away?

Using you
Losing you

Some days you believe
There is nothing more to breathe
If you didn't change your ways
You wouldn't even know me

Using you
Losing you

It's got to be here
Got to hold on
It's got to be something
It's never too close
It's always behind
You know you got nothing
Another day
Can't stay away
Something for nothing
It's already here
It's already gone
You already lost
What you never had

One more time around
One more hit before you go down
Do you feel so great now?
Do you need the things you thought about

Using You
Losing you

Go ahead and dove
See how far you can go
Take it all now
No one will know
It's in your mind
Deep in your veins
It's your mistake

It's got to be here
Got to hold on
It's got to be something
It's never too close
It's always behind
You know you got nothing
Another day
Can't stay away
Something for nothing
It's already here
It's already gone
You already lost
What you never had
